Descend the stairway through our woods and take your breakfast or lunch on a deck right over the ocean or at your own outdoor table. Enjoy a relaxing walk on the private cobble beach. Fire up a gas grill just outside your door. Nestled on a wooded peninsula in Hulls Cove, the Chalet is just a mile from the Acadia National Park Visitor's Center, and is just 3 miles from the bustling charm of downtown Bar Harbor. It is located on a quiet secluded point at the end of a private drive. (see map). Our woods shelter hummingbirds, hermit thrushes, deer and ladyslippers. |

A tip for first-timers: bring layers of clothing to add or subtract. Atop mount Cadillac or out on the ocean, it can be 20 degrees cooler than downtown. And it generally cools down at night - which is why people spend the summer here! We look forward to meeting you and having you as our guests! |

"I see that many honeymooners have preceded us. It's no wonder we, too, felt that romance. The quiet woods and cobbled beach shared only with seals and birds made the perfect setting. Your personal touches and thoughtfulness completed the week." "It took until today for me to realize that I had entered a different world, far removed from the vulgarities and hostility of the real world. During our stay, we both experienced that 'peace that surpasses all understanding,' and we thank you both for making that possible." "We had a great time again this week. Thank you for all the hospitality. We really love this place and can't wait to come back yet again. We won't wait another seven years for the next visit, I assure you! " "This was the most fulfilling vacation we've had as far back as we can remember. It's the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were in search of a little solitude, and we found it here at the Chalet, down at the ocean, and in the mountains of the National Park." "Finally, after 26 years of marriage, a REAL honeymoon! We're struck by all the recommendations of places to go and things to do. Our heartfelt recommendation to those who are fortunate enough to spend some time at the Chalet of the Bears is to begin by just being still. Let all your senses absorb the wonderful sounds of silence. Don't just limit yourself to the obvious beauty perceived by the eye. FEEL the sunlight warm your being. SMELL the comforting aroma of balsam, leaves, earth and sky. TASTE the sweetness of the salty air. Contemplate how important it is to be in touch with your soul and in harmony with the one you love. Then, after you've accomplished that, somehow a good meal or an invigorating hike or bike ride will be even more enjoyable." |
